The ongoing lockdown, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the lives of the most vulnerable communities in the blocks of Vikasnagar & Sahaspur of Dehradun district. This district is in the category of red zone. Communities such as migrant laborers, waste pickers (workers), single mothers, artisans, children and people with disabilities pay the highest price. These communities are suffering with no income and struggling to meet their daily needs. We wereable to identify 225 most vulnerable families in 38 villages of Sahaspur and Vikasnagar blocks of Dehradun. And the school will help 30 parents by providing them ration kits. The nature of relief is of two types.
1. Dry Ration kits:
Providing the dry ration kit to combat with the crisis period and having a healthy life. The organization distributed 100 ration kits to 100 families in 19 villages .The following items were provided per family.
2. Hygiene Kit:
The organization distributed mask, sanitizer and handout for creating awareness about COVID-19. The hygiene and sanitation kits and the basic training on how to use them will ensure that they will able to use these basic personal protective equipment like masks, pamphlet, and gloves when they feel obligated to continue their work to collect recyclables.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRIBUTION PROCESS:
The organization approach SDM, Vikasnagar with an application and list of beneficiaries in order to get permission for distribution of dry ration kit and hygiene kit in 19 villages of Sahaspur and Vikasnagar blocks of Dehradun district. SDM ordered to Sahaspur police station to verify the organization’s documents. Then he permitted to distribute the ration in the presence of police. Before distributing dry ration and hygiene kit the organization ensure that all the beneficiaries to maintain the social distancing.
